EXPLOSION AT A DRINKING JOINT IN KOGI STATE (SEE PICTURES)
An explosion has rocked a drinking joint in Kabba Town, headquarters of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi state.
The explosion occurred at the joint close to the former Akefe hotel at Okepadi axis of Kabba on Sunday night, May 29, 2022.
This is the second explosion witnessed in the community in one month. The first explosion occured on May 11, at a beer parlour near Lewu Junction, killing two people.
The police attributed the incident to gas cylinder but members of the community including the victims’ families said it was a bomb explosion.
The cause of the latest explosion is yet to be fully established at the time of filing this report.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP William Aya, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Monday, said no casualty was recorded.
The PPRO explained that the explosion happened at one Omofemi Bar at Okepadi Quarters, Kabba, around 9:15 pm on Sunday.
Aya said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Edward Egbuka, had drafted anti-bomb squad of the command to the area to determine the actual cause of the incident.
