Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, has confirmed that defender, Marcos Alonso, is set to leave the club because he is not training with the team amid interest from Barcelona.

Tuchel said Alonso would miss Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday as he tries to finalise his move away from the Blues.

Alonso will become the second Chelsea player to sign for Barcelona this summer, after Andreas Christensen, who joined as a free agent.

The Spanish left-back will move for less than 10 million euros and become Barca’s fifth summer signing.

However, Tuchel will have to count on Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella on the left side of his defence this season.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, 12th-August-2022, Tuchel said, “Marcos Alonso is not in training at the moment as he tries to finalise his move, so he won’t be in contention for Sunday, 14th-August-2022.”
