US-based Nigerian man commits suicide after killing wife, mother-in-law
Obinna Igbokwe, a Nigerian man, committed suicide on Thursday, June 2 in Texas, the United States of America, after shooting his wife, Tangela, and mother-in-law.
Igbokwe, according to reports, fled home with his three-month-old infant on Wednesday after shooting both ladies in the head.
Her grandma died as a result of the injury, despite the fact that her wife was badly hurt and hospitalized.
Igbokwe left the youngster in a car seat at a nearby motel while on the run.
When the authorities were notified of his presence in the vicinity, the suspect shot himself in the head and died as a result of his injuries.
“On June 2, 2022, at approximately 12:00am, detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by the Corsicana Police Department and instructed they had Mansa Igbokwe in their care,” according to a statement released by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.
“A male dropped off the youngster in a car seat at a local motel and claimed he would be right back, but never returned,” according to the Corsicana Police Department.
“The Corsicana Police Department was informed after the male did not return, and they learned the male left in a white passenger automobile, which they thought to be Igbokwe.
“Additional advisories were sent out to local law enforcement agencies in Ellis and Navarro counties, informing them that Igbokwe was in the region.
“At 1:05 a.m., Ennis Police Department officers discovered and attempted to stop the white Honda Igbokwe was driving.
“After a brief chase, the Honda came to a halt in a parking lot, when officers spotted and heard a single gunshot from the Honda’s interior.
“Law enforcement authorities attempted life-saving procedures and summoned medical staff, but Igbokwe succumbed to his wounds at a Dallas Hospital around 5:20 a.m. owing to the severity of the injury.”
“Mansa Igbokwe has been reunited with his family and is safe and sound. We are working with the victims to ensure they receive care and assistance, and our sympathies are with the family who has been devastated by this awful and horrific crime.”
