Godson Nse Thompson, a 32-year-old pastor, is being held in Uyo correctional centre, Akwa Ibom state for defiling a 13-year-old girl sent to him for intercessory prayers.

The pastor, a father of three children, was said to have taken the victim to his house on the pretext of praying for her, only to end up raping her.

The victim, a senior secondary one student at a government secondary school in Uyo, told the court that on Friday, July 10, 2020, her in-law accompanied her to a church in Uyo for prayers, according to.

She stated that her in-law (her sister’s husband) left her in the church around 6 pm, and the pastor requested that she accompany him elsewhere to pray for somebody, which she did.

The pastor, however, took her to his house, gave her a black liquid substance to drink, and then raped her.

She claimed that the pastor forbade her from leaving the house after the incident, but she was able to escape after he forgot to lock the door.

The victim stated that she saw ladies’ underwear of various colours and images of women inside the prophet’s residence.

She also noted that she had been bleeding from her private part after the incident.

“My in-law took me to a church by IBB Way, Uyo around 6pm and promised to pick me up by 7 pm,”  the victim said.

“When my in-law left the church, the pastor made a phone call to a tricyclist, and the tricyclist rode in.

“He (the pastor) asked me to enter the tricycle, saying he was going to pray for two persons, and he would also pray for me afterwards.

“When we got there, he prayed for the first and second persons.

“Thereafter, the pastor and I trekked to the main road, and he stopped a tricycle and we both entered it.

“After we got to a building, he entered one compound, and he took me to a room. He locked the door and told me to undress,” she stated.

After the statement of the victim, the trial judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang, adjourned the matter to August 1, 2022 for continuation of trial.
