65 YEARS OLD MAN ARRESTED IN ILORIN-KWARA STATE NIGERIA FOR ABDUCTION AND S*XUAL ASSAULT OF TWO MINORS
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) in Kwara state, on Wednesday, May 25, announced the arrest of a 65-year-old man, Oluwole Akinola, for abduction and s*xual assault of two minors in Ilorin.
Spokesman of the NSCDC in the state, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, who confirmed the incident disclosed that “the Gender-based Violence Unit of the Corps is currently interrogating Akinola while the two victims are also helping in the investigation.”
The spokesman said, “It will be recalled that one of the victims’ father, Borokini Oluwaseun, of Aduralere Street, Ilorin, Kwara state, visited a police station to make a report that his 12-year-old daughter was missing.
“After some days, the girl was found in the custody of the the 65-year-old man at Shao Garage Area, Ilorin,” he said.
Afolabi said that the timely arrival of the NSCDC operatives saved the culprit from mob action as the people of the neighbourhood insisted that it was not the first time Oluwole would be accused of rape and s*xual molestation of minors, according to Daily Post.
In his preliminary statement, Akinola, who claimed to have lost his wife 15 years ago, “denied having s*xually assaulted the minors, and added that the two girls actually approached him to shelter them but he did not s*xually assault them.”
The state’s commandant, Makinde Ayinla, has ordered the two minors to undergo further medical examination, while the investigation should continue before the culprit would be prosecuted in the court of law.
